138 KV Oil Breaker Replacements Project

Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) is soliciting proposals for the replacement of existing 138 kV oil circuit breakers (OCB) with new 138 kV SF6 breakers. GRU currently operates 31 OCBs in service and plans to replace 4-6 breakers annually. GRU will provide the new 138 kV SF6 (Siemens) breakers for each project, with the selected contractor responsible for all remaining work scope.

The scope of work for each breaker replacement includes: engineering design; procurement of all materials except the new 138 kV SF6 breakers; modification of existing OCB foundations while breakers remain in service; installation/modification of conduits; replacement of control cables; removal and disposal of existing 138 kV oil circuit breakers and associated mineral oil; installation of new 138 kV SF6 breakers; and finalization of project documentation and drawings. GRU intends to utilize this specification for replacement of any 138 kV SF6 breakers requiring future replacement.

The contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, materials (unless provided by GRU), tools, transportation, supervision, and services necessary to complete the work per attached drawings and specifications. The contractor must immediately notify GRU of any apparent errors or omissions in the drawings and shall not deviate from specifications without written approval from the GRU Company Representative.
