ACES/Carolina Power Partners, LLC (CPP) RFB for Firm Energy

The North American Energy Markets Association (NAEMA) is posting this Request for Bid (RFB) on behalf of its member ACES for Carolina Power Partners, LLC (CPP). CPP is seeking proposals for the purchase of firm energy that qualifies as a Designated Network Resource (DNR) under the Duke Energy Carolinas (DEC) Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT). The energy is sourced from the Kings Mountain Energy Center (KMEC), a 475 MW natural gas combined cycle facility located in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

KMEC began commercial operations in August 2018 and is owned and operated by CPP. The facility features one Mitsubishi Hitachi M501GAC combustion turbine, one heat recovery steam generator, and one Toshiba America Energy Systems steam turbine. It is interconnected with Duke Energy Carolinas' transmission system and the Transco Zone 5 South Pipeline, and maintains a firm fuel supply agreement. CPP reports a strong operational history with an average commercial availability factor exceeding 99% from 2022 through 2025.
