As-Needed Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Installations and EV Charger Station Construction

The City of Pasadena Water and Power Department seeks qualified contractors to provide as-needed services for the construction, installation, and replacement of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout the city. The scope includes construction of infrastructure to support EV charging stations, installation of new Level 2 and Level 3 DC fast chargers, and replacement of existing EV chargers as needed. The City intends to select both a primary contractor and a backup contractor to ensure timely and efficient expansion and maintenance of EV charging infrastructure across public properties, parking facilities, city buildings, and other designated locations.

The project supports Pasadena Water and Power's clean energy initiatives and transportation electrification goals. PWP serves over 65,000 residential and commercial customers and delivers water to nearly 38,000 households and businesses across Pasadena and neighboring communities in the San Gabriel Valley. The EV charging network expansion is designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve the City's climate action and sustainability objectives.

Work includes upgrading existing EV chargers to improve reliability and user experience, deploying new Level 2 and DC fast chargers at key locations including parks, public garages, commercial districts, and city-owned facilities, and implementing site improvements such as electrical upgrades, accessibility enhancements, and load management solutions. This as-needed contract is expected to support grid resilience, renewable energy integration, and the City's long-term sustainability objectives.
