Basic Service Procurement

National Grid procures Basic Service for its customers on a quarterly basis through a competitive Request for Proposals process. This procurement solicitation is open to qualified power suppliers seeking to provide electric supply to National Grid's Basic Service customers in Massachusetts, including those served by Massachusetts Electric Company and Nantucket Electric Company across residential, commercial, and industrial customer classes.

The RFP process includes submission of detailed proposals with pricing and terms in accordance with National Grid's Master Power Agreement. Suppliers must provide required proposal information including bid forms, qualification documentation, and compliance with all specified requirements. The procurement includes both Basic Service load and Competitive Supply load data across multiple customer classes.

National Grid provides comprehensive load data for bidders including initial and reconciled load information segmented by customer class (residential, commercial, industrial) and service territory. Additional data provided includes ICAP tags, class average load shapes, customer count information, and municipal aggregation data to support bidder analysis and proposal development.

Completed proposals and all supporting documentation must be submitted according to the submission requirements outlined in the Request for Proposals document. National Grid maintains a schedule of upcoming procurement solicitations and publishes results of concluded procurements for market transparency.
