The California Energy Commission's Clean Transportation Program is announcing the availability of up to $24 million in competitive grant funding through the Convenient, High-Visibility, Low-Cost Level 2 Charging (CHiLL-2) solicitation. This grant opportunity aims to support the deployment of Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure through demonstration projects that can be replicated and scaled.
The solicitation has four primary objectives: (1) demonstrate replicable and scalable business and technology models to deploy Level 2 EV chargers, (2) improve public awareness of and confidence in Level 2 charging access through high-density and high-visibility installations, (3) provide Level 2 charging access in disadvantaged and/or low-income communities, and (4) provide reliable and readily accessible chargers.
Key dates include the release date of March 23, 2023, with a questions deadline of April 28, 2023 at 5:00 PM. A pre-application workshop was held on April 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM via remote access. The submission deadline for proposals is June 16, 2023 at 11:59 PM.
