eGauge Contractor RFQ for the Renew Our Schools Competition

Focus on Energy, in partnership with KEEP (Wisconsin's K-12 Energy Education Program), seeks to establish a pool of qualified electrical contractors to supply, install, and configure eGauge 4015 energy monitoring devices for participating Wisconsin schools. This bi-annual competition (Spring and Fall cycles) engages students and staff in energy conservation efforts using real-time energy gauges to monitor electricity consumption.

Contractors will be responsible for purchasing eGauge 4015 devices with three current transformers (CT), installing them in school electrical rooms, and configuring the user interface system. Installation requirements include verifying service entrance voltage and current ratings, assessing CT placement relative to main breakers, determining appropriate CT diameter (typically 4, 7, or 10 inches), confirming installation around parallel conductors or busbars, tagging the three-phase power panel, documenting panel voltage, and determining protection requirements (panel protection or fused disconnect). Contractors must connect devices to network connections for dynamic data transmission using either DHCP-assigned or static IP addresses.

All devices must be purchased, installed, and fully configured at least one month before each competition kickoff. Devices remain school property after competition completion. Schools will contact contractors directly from a statewide qualified contractor list to arrange installations. Submission deadline is May 18, 2026. Qualified contractors must provide company information, three references of similar projects, documentation of OSHA agreements or citations from the past five years, and specify their service area.
