Elevated Water Tank Demolition

The City of Idaho Falls seeks qualified general contractors to demolish a 0.5 million gallon elevated water tank approximately 185 feet tall located within the campus of Idaho Falls Power. This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is issued pursuant to Idaho Code 67-2805 for the procurement of public works construction services.

The scope of work includes complete demolition of the legged elevated tank structure, proper disposal of all materials including hazardous waste disposal of lead-coated tank parts, and surface restoration of pavement and other finished surfacing and above ground features that are disturbed during the project. The project has an expected duration of 6 weeks after the Notice to Proceed. The engineer's opinion of probable cost is estimated between $200,000 and $500,000.

Only pre-qualified contractors will be allowed to bid on this project as the general/prime contractor. Interested contractors must submit three copies of their Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) response in the format outlined in the qualification packet by 10:00 A.M. Local Time on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Sealed packets shall be addressed to the City of Idaho Falls Public Works Department at 380 Constitution Way, Idaho Falls, ID 83402. The envelope must be clearly marked with the contractor's name and address and bear the project identification number 2-37-24-1-WTR-2026-24.

The City will notify applicants of their qualification status within 30 days of the opening date. Successful applicants will receive construction bid documents and notification of the bid opening date and time, with bid documents anticipated to be provided in September 2025. Note that contractors are not required to have an Idaho Public Works Contractor's license at the time of qualification submittal, but must obtain current licenses prior to construction bid opening. The City reserves the right to reject any qualification submittals, waive informalities, or cancel/postpone the project.
