General Legal Representation

Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) seeks a Florida State Certified Law Firm or Lawyer(s) to serve as GRU's Attorney and provide complete legal representation and general legal services. GRU is a multi-service utility owned by the City of Gainesville and the 5th largest municipal electric utility in Florida, serving approximately 93,000 retail and wholesale customers with electric, natural gas, water, wastewater, and telecommunications services.

The selected firm will handle legal matters across multiple areas including legislative and governmental issues, land use and zoning, ordinances, contract language, lease and rental agreements, memorandums of understanding, construction contracts, professional service agreements, and service level agreements. The firm will provide ongoing counsel as GRU transitions from City Commission oversight to the new GRU Authority Board, an independent five-member board appointed by the governor following HB-1645 signed into law on June 28, 2023 and effective July 1, 2023.
