Hawaiian Electric seeks proposals to deliver qualified Grid Services from customer-sited distributed energy resources for the Hawaiian Electric system on the island of Maui, as mandated by Hawaii Public Utilities Commission Order No. 38784 issued December 22, 2022 in Docket No. 2017-0352. The RFP seeks 20 MW of Capacity Reduction Grid Services on Maui, with proposers also able to include up to 20 MW of Capacity Build Grid Service as a bundled service.
Proposers must register as a "Supplier" in Power Advocate's Sourcing Intelligence platform to access the RFP event. Registration instructions are available in Appendices B and D of the RFP document. After successful registration, proposers must request access to the RFP event by emailing response@hawaiianelectric.com with their supplier information. Once added to the event, proposers will receive an invitation at their registered email address. All communication throughout the RFP process shall occur through the Power Advocate platform.
A Proposer's Conference was held on February 1, 2023, providing additional clarity and transparency regarding RFP terms and the company's proposed processes. Video presentation and slides from this conference are available for reference.
Note: Bid submission for this RFP closed on February 1, 2024, with no bid submissions received. The Company filed a recommendation to close the RFP, and the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission issued Order No. 40687 closing the Maui Grid Services RFP.
