INDUSTRIAL STORAGE RACK SYSTEMS

The City of Pasadena Water and Power Department seeks bids from qualified contractors to provide a complete turnkey industrial storage rack system for PWP's warehouse located at 125 N. Vinedo Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91107. The selected contractor shall furnish, deliver, install, anchor, inspect, and place into service a fully functional industrial steel storage rack system. The scope includes field verification of existing site conditions, confirmation of rack layout and dimensions, preparation of shop drawings and rack layout drawings, product data and load capacity documentation, permit support and code compliance, furnishing of all rack materials and accessories, delivery, installation, anchoring, coordination with City staff, cleanup, final inspection, and correction of any deficiencies.

The rack system will store heavy and bulky utility materials and equipment supporting both water and electric utility operations, including transformers, wire reels, switches, water utility materials, and related components. Bidders must carefully review the attached warehouse floor plan, attend the mandatory pre-bid meeting scheduled for June 1, 2026 at 6:00 PM, verify site conditions, and include in their bid all labor, materials, equipment, freight, installation, anchoring, inspection support, and other costs necessary to provide a complete and usable system. The City intends to award one contract for the full scope of work. This is not a materials-only procurement; the contractor shall not assume the City will separately procure components, perform installation, or provide other services unless expressly stated.

The contractor is responsible for verifying all field conditions, confirming dimensions, identifying installation constraints, and preparing final rack layout drawings, shop drawings, product data, load capacity documentation, and any calculations or stamped engineering required by applicable code, permit authority, manufacturer requirements, or the City prior to fabrication or installation. Because the warehouse supports active utility operations, the contractor must coordinate all work with City staff to minimize operational disruption and maintain safe access routes during installation. The contractor shall plan and schedule work to account for material lead times, City review, permit or code compliance requirements, delivery, installation, inspection, correction of deficiencies, and final acceptance.

Key dates include a pre-proposal meeting on June 1, 2026 at 6:00 PM, a Q&A deadline of June 4, 2026 at 9:00 PM, and a proposal submission deadline of June 8, 2026 at 7:00 PM. Pricing shall reflect the complete turnkey nature of the project and include all costs necessary to deliver a fully installed, code-compliant, seismically appropriate, and immediately usable rack system.
