AI Overview

MassCEC is seeking proposals from Entrepreneur Support Organizations (ESOs) in Massachusetts—including incubators, accelerators, and innovation hubs—to deliver targeted support to early-stage climatetech entrepreneurs and accelerate their path to market. Two funding tracks are available: Track 1 provides operating funds (up to $120,000) to enhance existing or develop new startup programs supporting climatetech entrepreneurs, with flexible use for staffing, programming, or facility management. Track 2 provides operating funds (up to $120,000) plus access to a competitive fellowship funding pool (up to $900,000 total) for Entrepreneur Fellowship programs that advance the translation of research into climatetech businesses, products, and jobs in energy, transportation, and buildings sectors. Fellowship funds must go directly to fellows (living stipends, R&D grants) and cannot be used for ESO operating expenses. Capital expenses are not eligible. Eligible climatetech companies must develop or apply technologies that contribute to decarbonization, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, or mitigate climate change impacts through adaptation, resilience, and environmental sustainability. Priority sectors include: Energy & Electricity (renewable generation and grid modernization), Transportation (zero-emissions vehicles, public transit, alternative fuels), Manufacturing & Industry (carbon reduction, circular economy, carbon capture), Agriculture & Water (sustainable farming, forest management, nature-based solutions), Buildings (energy efficiency, renewable heating, sustainable construction), and Resilience & Adaptation (climate-smart planning, infrastructure strengthening, nature-based solutions). Applicants must be legally organized in Massachusetts or demonstrate significant Massachusetts-based climatetech startup cohorts/membership, have operated for at least one year, and provide services supporting climatetech development, commercialization, and entrepreneurship including mentoring, training, funding, networking, and/or access to specialized facilities and resources.
