Hawaiian Electric is seeking feedback through an Expression of Interest for developers interested in developing cost-competitive multiday-duration energy storage projects. The utility is expecting to need multiday energy and capacity resources to provide reliability services and is assessing whether alternative technologies could fulfill these needs in addition to firm generation resources. The projects are being sought for Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii Island.
Responses to this EOI will assist Hawaiian Electric in developing long-range renewable energy plans and informing future and upcoming competitive procurements. Interested parties are required to complete the Project Questionnaire (Appendix A) and submit responses by the May 12, 2022 deadline.
