NEVI AFC and Community Program
NYSERDA is deploying $45 million in federal NEVI funding to build out Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) networks across New York State—both along Alternative Fuel Corridors and in underserved communities. Sites must deliver minimum 600 kW total capacity with at least four simultaneous 150 kW charging ports equipped with CCS and J3400/NACS connectors, with proposals ranked separately for Downstate and Upstate regions. Proposers may submit up to eight proposals across the two tracks, with community site funding contingent on federal "fully built out" certification.

AI Overview
NYSERDA seeks proposals to develop Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) along Alternative Fuel Corridors (AFCs) and in Communities throughout New York State using up to $45 million in federal formula funding under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program. This program aims to reduce the cost of purchasing and installing DCFC EVSE in New York State and accelerate electric vehicle adoption.
Proposers may submit up to eight (8) proposals in any combination of two tracks: the AFC Track for sites along Alternative Fuel Corridors, and the Community Track for sites outside previous AFC corridor restrictions. Funding for Community Sites is contingent on New York State receiving certified "fully built out" status from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). NYSERDA will not enter into contracts with Community site awardees unless and until FHWA issues this certification. Proposals will be ranked separately for sites south of I-84 (Downstate) and sites north of and including I-84 (Upstate).
Eligibility requirements specify that each proposed site must accommodate simultaneous charging for at least four vehicles at a minimum of 150 kW and offer a total site delivery capacity of 600 kW or more. All EVSE ports must have CCS and J3400/NACS connectors. Sites with greater than four ports must still provide simultaneous charging of at least 150 kW to each port.
NYSERDA will host two optional webinars for potential proposers: Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. ET and Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. ET. At these webinars, NYSERDA will discuss NEVI program details and proposal requirements. Proposals must be submitted through the online portal with required attachments including proposal narrative, budget form, Social Economic and Environmental Resources Checklist (SEERC), and disclosure statements.
