Hawaiian Electric is seeking information through this Non-Wires Alternative (NWA) Expression of Interest to determine whether cost-competitive alternatives to traditional wires solutions exist on the island of Oahu. The initiative addresses anticipated infrastructure overloads due to significant load growth in the Kakaako and Kewalo area of Oahu in the coming years. The utility is seeking sufficient load reduction beginning in 2026 to manage these operational challenges.
Developers and aggregators capable of developing utility-scale renewable projects or aggregating distributed energy resources (DER) and energy efficiency (EE) solutions in the Kakaako and Kewalo area are encouraged to submit comprehensive responses. Respondents must complete the Property Questionnaire provided in Appendix A of the EOI document and include general performance requirements as outlined in the solicitation materials.
Submissions must be received by February 28, 2023.
