Request for Information (RFI) soliciting responses from clean energy project developers interested in obtaining Capacity Resource Interconnection Service (CRIS) rights for projects planning to interconnect at or near Long Island legacy steam turbine generating units currently owned by National Grid at the Northport, Port Jefferson and Barrett power stations. LIPA seeks to identify developers interested in acquiring steam turbine CRIS rights and interconnecting new, clean generating facilities, which may include renewable generation facilities, energy storage projects and other forms of clean generation at or near the same points of interconnection (POIs) as the steam turbines. The RFI is intended to help LIPA develop the concept for competitively transferring available CRIS rights to clean energy projects. Respondents should share their project plans, including projected schedules for acquiring CRIS rights and completing transmission system upgrades associated with re-use of steam turbine POIs, and describe the preferred form of any required agreements with LIPA and/or Genco to establish or confirm control of desired rights.
