Design-build opportunity for individual rack-mounted (roof/awning) solar photovoltaic energy generation systems coupled with battery energy storage at a minimum of 11 and up to 12 separately located, rural fire stations and one communications tower in Humboldt County. The primary objective is to help sustain operational energy needs at remote fire stations during times of natural disasters and planned and unplanned electric grid outages. The project involves designing PV + Battery systems for each fire station and communications tower, providing permitting assistance, purchasing all necessary equipment, constructing the energy systems, testing and performance verification (commissioning), operations and maintenance training, and providing a minimum 12-month performance guarantee for each energy system constructed. The project consists of: 1) Roof-mounted photovoltaic (PV) arrays coupled with battery energy storage systems (BESS) installed on participating fire stations, 2) one awning-mounted PV array attached to the side of a building coupled with a BESS, and 3) one pole-mounted PV array coupled with a BESS.
