School Bus: Advisory Services Program

MassCEC provides free fleet electrification planning support to public school districts across Massachusetts to address barriers to school bus electrification. The program offers technical advisory services including: vehicle and charging infrastructure analysis, feasibility designs, financial models, preparation for and application to future funding opportunities, vehicle and charging station procurement plans, and educational materials. The consultant team will work with school districts to develop a Final Fleet Electrification Plan that includes actionable next steps on funding opportunities, timeline of required approvals, identification of major stakeholders and their roles, identification of vehicles that can be electrified with suggested timing for procurement decisions, Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) recommendations and location recommendations, identification and presentation of all costs, and outline of post-deployment operations including workforce training, charging schedules, and maintenance. The program is led by VEIC (a sustainable energy non-profit specializing in energy efficiency, building decarbonization, transportation electrification, and clean grid development) in partnership with PowerOptions (a New England-based non-profit energy consortium) and Energetics (a consulting firm integrating clean energy technologies).
