Sod Restoration Services

Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) is soliciting vendor(s) for annual sod restoration services at various locations across their service areas, primarily within the City, County and state right-of-ways or within GRU utility easements. The vendor will be expected to furnish all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for the replacement of sod associated with routine water, wastewater, electric, gas, or telecommunication system construction activities. The locations, size, and type of sod will vary from site to site, and work is often located in residential areas.

GRU's operational areas install, maintain, and repair infrastructure on a daily basis in multiple locations across their service areas. This work often involves excavation which may impact existing sod or grassed surfaces. GRU is responsible for restoring sites after completion of their construction activities to match existing conditions. This work occurs on an as-needed basis in response to both planned and unplanned construction activities. Sites may be spread out across the service area or grouped into a single area for larger planned capital project efforts.

The purpose of this bid is to form a mutually agreed upon contract with the awarded vendor(s) for a period of three (3) years with an option for a two (2) year renewal. GRU is the 5th largest municipal electric utility in Florida and serves approximately 93,000 retail and wholesale customers in Gainesville and surrounding areas, offering electric, natural gas, water, wastewater, and telecommunications services.
